1/144 B787 & 747 Fuselages update

Hello everyone,

Long time without updates, it is not because I’ve been on holidays but focused on working with the current projects, yet this may be another summer without having time for some modeling, but I really need to complete the several projects and upcoming releases that I have scheduled.

In today’s update I want to comment about the B787 and the B747-8F fuselages.
As I was preparing the second batch of the B787 full set, some of the molds were tearing apart in some areas so it was time to renew them, as you may know, silicone molds lifetime depend on several factors.
Having on my desk the front, center and rear sections of the fuselage, I thought; why not provide the fuselage with the sections already joined?

This decision was taken for several reasons, the most important of all, to keep the project more straight forward for the modeler and to make it a bit more “hassle free” taking away a part of the work that is already done by providing a completed fuselage.
Making the new mold took me quite some time, so hence the delay on the second batch.

For the -9 versions, a new mold of the sections was also made, so in this case only two cuts will be needed to install the extensions. Work will begin shortly to make the -10 variant which will include extra transparent windows, however, the modifications may not end there, as most probably the AFT cargo hold module may also need a remodel due the position of the door on the -10.

Currently, the second batch of the 787 Full set is half the way done. Providing the fuselage complete, some other things like the packaging and instructions also had to change. This new modification of the set is also offered for free to those who already purchased the first batch of the full set.

Another work that I am trying to push forward is the B747-8F with full interior detail. There has been some progress and the first left side master fuselage was printed. Note that the sections are not glued, and similar to the B787, this set will also have the full fuselage casted in two halves.

This fuselage is meant to be used with Revell’s 747-8i or 747-8F kits and I am most glad to say that the first test fitting with the tail cone and wing went very well. A first release will be done for the Revell kits, if all goes well, another version for Zvezda shall be done.
Initially, the idea was to use optic fiber, but ultimately I aim on using LED’s for the side wall lights. In this case, the LED’s rig will be already provided, soldering SMD 0805 LED’s can be a challenge, so although I have the idea on how to do the lighting rig, I will need to do some tests first.

Please, keep in mind that the fuselage presented here is a very early work, and although most of the parts were tested and most of the molds were already produced, it may still take me a bit of time to complete this project.

That is all for now, I am currently working on some other projects that I expect to release soon, like the new GSE models (AST-1F 600 and catering truck) as well some other things in 1/72 like the B737NG winglets and scimitars.

I will provide another update once I have the second batch of the 787 Full set ready for release, most probably around mid-end August at the latest.

Best wishes,
Guillem
